Residential Care Facility for the Elderly means any facility of any capacity that provides 24-hour-a-day nonmedical care and supervision to person 60 years of age or older in the state of California. Sometimes referred to as Assisted Living 16+ beds or Board and Care 4-6 beds. In order to become a certified administrator for a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly you must meet the required qualifications.

Description: This course is required to enable the participant to request to take the state exam to become a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Administrator. The purpose of this 80-hour initial certification course is to familiarize the learner with start-up and operational regulations for an Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). The learner will also become familiar with the psychosocial needs of the residents living in an RCFE and understand their individual needs. This course will engage the learner in interactive experiences focused on the regulatory requirements specific to an RCFE and how to create a positive environment for those living in an RCFE.
